In data centers, uninterrupted cooling is critical to prevent overheating, maintain uptime, and protect valuable equipment. KraftPowercon UMD is a fully integrated motor drive system with back up capabilities, developed from years of experience in powering AC motors to meet the highest standards of performance and reliability.
By energizing the DC link in the VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) with a battery, the system ensures continuous motor operation with seamless transitions between AC utility power and DC battery backup.
Designing a reliable and efficient power distribution system is crucial for maintaining uptime in your data center. With our UMD configurator, you can quickly create Single Line Diagrams that are precise, compliant, and tailored to your specific needs.
UMD™ provides continuous operation of 3-phase AC motors, with no interruption during utility power disturbances.
The UMD™ system is designed to remove all Single Points of Failure.
UMD™ is delivered as one complete MCC-unit. Type tested according to IEC, UL, CSA and other applicable standards.
In normal operation the Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) is supplied from mains. During a brown out or mains outage the VFD is powered from a battery connected directly to the DC-bus of the VFD. The transition between the power sources is completely seamless, meaning no speed drop during any disturbances of the mains supply.
The UMD™ system is designed to remove all Single Points of Failure. Traditional UPS systems must be doubled or excessively oversized to achieve the same safety level.
The system is supplied with single or redundant mains input breakers, battery charger, AC and DC busbars, and the required motor drive outputs. In addition, it can be extended to backup all AC and DC auxiliary loads. As a result of this several complex engineering activities including battery sizing, power loss calculations, motor protection settings, fuse selectivity in distribution board, can be eliminated. It also allows for fast and straightforward installation and commissioning that can be performed by local technicians.
